Scott is an engineer, entrepreneur and environmentalist who cares deeply about the impact of climate change on future generations. Starting SES as a sole proprietorship, Scott has grown it into a unique small business that empowers our staff to practice innovative engineering to tackle the challenge of dramatically reducing emissions in our clients’ buildings. He draws on 25 years of experience in construction and consulting to find solutions that implement efficiency, comfort and occupant experience. Inspired by his adventures in nature while whitewater kayaking, backcountry skiing and mountain biking, Scott believes in a future where buildings have less impact on the Earth, while better serving the needs of people.

Brad is a Professional Engineer with thirteen years experience in energy efficiency, low carbon technologies, and smart building systems. He has demonstrated his passion for the sustainable use of energy throughout his professional career and this continues to be a driving force in his work. Brad works closely with clients to integrate leading edge technologies and energy conservation strategies into existing buildings; these can include fault detection and analytics, low carbon heating systems, and advanced controls.

Brad is a Contributing Editor to Automated Buildings. Brad is also a member of the board of directors for the BC Advanced Conservation & Efficiency Association.

Sheldon received a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (BASc) in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Clean Energy Engineering from the University of British Columbia. His enthusiasm for energy, technology, and the environment led him to the field of energy efficiency when he joined SES in 2013. His experience has centered on controls recommissioning, retro commissioning and measurement and verification projects. Sheldon believes technology plays a key role in reducing building energy consumption by improving control logic, reducing waste from inefficient technologies, and adopting new standards. He is driven to provide quality services and innovative energy conservation opportunities.

As a Senior Energy Efficiency Engineer, Sean aspires to create positive change in the world through energy conservation and sustainable living. He attended the University of Guelph where he received a degree in Environmental Engineering and prior to joining SES spent four years working in environmental consulting conducting environmental assessments and reclamation projects. His interest in energy and the environment led him to obtain a Masters in Clean Energy Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2012. Sean joined SES in 2013 and has experience in HVAC control strategy and implementation. He is currently working as part of the mechanical design team completing building HVAC and heat recovery system retrofits.

Estella graduated with B.ENG in Energy and Power Engineering from Shandong University in China, and just finished her Masters degree in Clean Energy Engineering from University of British Columbia. She believes that conservation and sustainability can be achieved through everyone’s effort on improving energy efficiency. She also influences people around her with her passion of pursuing low carbon life.

Jorge received his degree in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, and his passion for renewable energy and sustainability led him to obtain a Masters in Clean Energy Engineering at the University of British Columbia. He became interested in building efficiency when he first heard about Net Zero Energy buildings. Working on projects that involve renewable energy and unconventional energy efficiency technologies has been his greatest interest. One day, Jorge hopes to work with and help develop the clean energy industry in Latin America.

Ever since IPCC’s third assessment report came out in 2001, Anders knew he wanted – needed – to stake out a career that meant actually building a sustainable society, not just talking about it. He received his Master’s in Sustainable Energy in 2006 and has since managed increasingly more complex projects within CleanTech and renewable energy, focusing on solar PV and biomass facilities. Anders enjoys being in a leadership position where he can elevate those around him to perform at their highest potential and is proud of the amazing project teams he has lead to success designing, procuring and building systems that to this day continue to produce clean energy. Outside work Anders likes to spend his time traveling, climbing, dancing, massaging, playing with his housemate’s dog and being a general goofball with his friends and family.

Stephanie received her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria. Her engineering experience includes primarily mechanical and software design, research and development, and project management. She discovered her passion for sustainable building design through her involvement with ASHRAE and enjoys being able to make a positive impact as part of the SES team. As a Senior Decarbonization Engineer, Stephanie’s roles at SES include project management, team leadership, Learning portfolio support, and technical engineering

Alireza obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering and is currently graduating from UVic with a Master of Engineering degree in electrical engineering. His passion for climate resilience and his interest in energy efficiency in buildings brought him to the SES team. His areas of interest include mechanical design, building energy modeling and climate change mitigation and adaptation. His research at UVic is primarily focused on passive energy conservation measures in the built environment. Alireza also enjoys sharing his knowledge as a teaching assistant at UVic and was awarded the Graduate Student Excellence in Teaching award in 2018.

Growing up in the developing world with limited access to electricity, the value of energy efficiency and conservation became evident to Farzod from a young age. He Received his Bachelor of applied science in Industrial systems Engineering from University of Regina. His experience includes providing Solar-PV solutions and working on commercial & industrial mechanical projects. After discovering the potential of sustainable buildings in both climate change mitigation and human health and wellness, he decided to aim for a career in green building technologies. To play, Farzod likes to travel, cook, read, do yoga, expand his plants collection and go for long walks.

Ben has always had a passion for GHG reduction, from a young age helping his family pack books for their green publishing company to August 2022 where he was installing solar panels on Gilford Island for the Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nations Band. He graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering with specializations in thermodynamics and energy systems and joined SES in the fall of 2022. He has experience in renewable energy solutions and energy management as well as hands-on experience installing and managing building energy solutions. Ben does everything in his power to reduce energy output and GHG gasses and is happy to be working amongst like-minded people at SES.

It’s been over 13-years of Pardeep putting his mind towards reducing energy-use in buildings by optimizing Building Controls and Energy Management.

Pardeep graduated from BCIT’s ECET program, specializing in Automation & Instrumentation. In a chance conversation with a respected instructor, Pardeep decided to work in service of the environment as opposed to the common route of graduates finding work in the Alberta oil sands.

Through this focus on environmentalism, he’s pursued finding and creating functional energy reduction strategies with new and existing technologies within Building Automation Systems. As part of this, Pardeep also researches and develops new building automation systems to empower end-users, and was part of a team that received funding from the Federal Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program for creating innovative and scalable Energy Management systems.

When he isn’t working, you’ll probably find Pardeep out in the woods looking for mushrooms or in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia.
