Innovation
The world of energy and carbon management in buildings is undergoing rapid change.
At SES, we work hard to stay on top of the latest advancements to help our clients make good decisions about solutions that work (and do not work). We continually improve our own tools and processes to guarantee the quality and cost effectiveness of our services.
SES can help you avoid falling victim to expensive hype and determine how to get the best value out of new technologies.
Areas of focus for innovation include:
- Building electrification and decarbonization codes, standards and processes
- Commissioning and Recommissioning supported by fault detection and analytics
- Data driven analysis and design/Digital Twin
- Design and controls strategies for low carbon and hybrid heat systems
- Operator training and ongoing performance
- Use of Generative AI, Large Language Models, and Machine Learning for building optimization and analysis
Certified Living Wage Employer
Living Wage Employers are responsible employers who care about their employees and the community. They recognize that paying a living wage constitutes a critical investment in the long-term prosperity of the economy by fostering a dedicated, skilled and healthy workforce.
SES Consulting is proud to be a Certified Living Wage Employer, since 2022.

B Corp
SES has been a Certified B Corp since 2013, a third-party verification of our efforts to do good and be good for people and the planet. Together, B Corps work to accelerate a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. They meet a high standard of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
Now in our 5th certification cycle, being a part of the B Corp community has challenged SES to evolve continually to meet its high standards. Some initiatives that have grown out of our participation in this community include a living wage for all employees that also determines our maximum executive compensation; an overhaul of our compensation process to eradicate wage discrimination for part-time employees; and, possibly most impactful, a hiring process redesigned to mitigate unconscious bias.
In our 2025 B Impact assessment, SES Consulting earned an overall score of 141, up from our previous score of 115. The significant increase reflects our commitment to paying our employees a living wage; improvements to employee benefits; delivering a robust employee feedback process; and the significant impact of our projects in reducing GHG emissions, related to our Theory of Change and Thought Leadership activities in the industry.
For comparison, the median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 51. We are very proud of the fact that we have improved our score in each B Impact assessment since 2013, even as the criteria have become more stringent.

Truth & Reconciliation
As part of SES’ ongoing objective of building equity, diversity & inclusion into our company culture, SES Consulting is developing our Reconciliation Action Plan.
We recognize that individuals are at different places along the path to Reconciliation. We also recognize that their progress can be guided, influenced and supported by how our organization operates, the activities we prioritize and the values we uphold.
JEDI
SES is committed to the JEDI principles – Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. For us, this shows up by facilitating, recruiting, and retaining a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
Our people are what make SES great. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, values and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and company’s achievement as well.
We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.
